For educators

Building better routes into work, for every kind of mind.

We help educators and institutions to improve employability outcomes for different thinkers.

designed with neurodivergent talent. benefiting everyone.

The world of work is shifting. And yet, education and employment pathways remain stuck—too rigid, too narrow, and too out of sync with technology, industry, and the talent employers seek.

We’re changing that. We bring together employers seeking divergent talent, ambitious educators, and young thinkers whose insights are shaping the way forward.

At the core of our work is a simple principle: design nothing for young people without listening to them.

If you’re working in schools, colleges or further education, read on or reach out to see how Undercurrent can help you unlock the power of neurodivergent talent.

  • Partnerships with employers are often the weakest link in the system. We’re helping fix that.

We support educators in building high-impact relationships with forward-thinking employers—moving beyond careers talk to real-world collaboration.

This isn’t about ticking boxes. it’s about creating meaningful opportunities for neurodivergent students. To help students gain confidence, develop skills, and engage with real career growth at businesses that are open to diverse talents.

✔️ Collaborate with vetted, committed employers who value neurodivergent talent

✔️ Provide students with access to genuine growth and career opportunities that go far beyond typical employer offerings

✔️ Strengthen your Gatsby Benchmark delivery through structured and meaningful encounters

✔️ Educate businesses on what effective early career engagement truly looks like

  • Rethinking Employability: A New Model for Assessment

We’re rethinking how talent is assessed—and who gets through the door.

Traditional recruitment systems often rely on narrow, high-pressure assessments that assume everyone develops at the same pace and performs best under stress. These systems are locking out neurodivergent candidates with extraordinary potential.

We’re convening a working group of leading thinkers in inclusive design, further education, and employer practice—including Professor Bryan Maddox, a Cambridge-based research director and globally recognised expert on inclusive assessment, digital education, and the future of learning.

Together, we’re exploring how assessment acts as a gateway into employment—and what happens when that gateway is redesigned. We’ll draw on live research and lived experience to reimagine how talent is recognised, and to prototype better ways forward.

If you're working in further education and want to be part of what comes next, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out here

Everything we do is grounded in the lived experience of neurodivergent young people. We use that insight to design programmes that actually work—for students, educators, and employers.

Raising standards

We only work with partners who are serious about making change. That means no box-ticking, no well-meaning gestures—just purposeful partnerships that deliver growth and work opportunities for exceptional talent.

No tokenism, ever

What if we stopped asking whether a student was ‘ready’—and started asking whether our systems were?”

We already have. Now we’re building what comes next.
